Miniature and stop motion animation

I heard Wes Anderson on Terri Gross and he talked about how he visits the Thorne Rooms at the Chicago Museum of Art for inspiration. There is quite a connection between miniatures and stop motion animation. These are some pictures from two of my favorite recent stop motion movies.

Pictures of My House: Before During and After

Transformations

I love before and afters and not all have to be from the ugly duckling to the swan. Here is a great study room for kids (I know, who has the luxury of a room just for their kids to study in?) that has been transformed to a lovely study room for....teenagers. Aaahh disposable income!

Yellow Velvet

I know it's been heavy on inspirational posts rather what I'm buying/will buy but that's because we sort of ran out of money for the time being (I hope). I will gather the courage and post real pictures but this will have to do for now.
I've posted Kate Spade pictures in the past but notice the yellow velvet chair--yellow velvet is such a metaphor for what I try to achieve in my home (maybe that should have been what I called the blog). It's at once quirky, luxurious, young, modern and classic--yin and yang.

By the way, I also love John Baldessari and the Spades have a whole collection of them. (I'm learning about him too-most recently in Seven Days in the Art World).

Floor Cloth

I've always loved floor cloths--not that I've seen many up close but I certainly love the idea of a painted canvas as a rug. I found this one by Sheila Bridges and the technique looks simple enough(if you can paint, that is). Alpha Workshops makes them too but much more expensive.
This one actually has a sociological bent. You can order them in whatever skin tone you want. Two innovative ideas in one. Hmmm.......

Green

Though in an FIT project, I chose green as my least favorite color, (purple was no. 1), it's been creeping into my consciousness. I'm thinking of an apple green as a nice contrast for the lavender in my living room on curtains, and maybe a pillow and a richer green for my bedroom curtains. Velvet is a great texture but so inappropriate for these triple digit days.
