The boy's room will reflect his artistic side. He asked for a room painted the primary colors and here is the interpretation.

The wall paint will be billowy down by Benjamin Moore with white trim. The wood floor will be painted

sand floor and paint brilliant blue in high gloss. The red will be incorporated in the doors which will be painted

vermillion. With his white bed facing the window, we'll install a new yellow light fixture from Ikea and hang his artwork in Ikea frames on the wall. Lastly, I'll let him choose a 5 x 8 rug for himself.

Wallpaper

I must must must decide on wallpaper tout suit. Here are some possibilities:

I also like the Indie wallpapers but I worry that they would look a bit twee. Don't get me wrong--I want quirky but not overly femme. Thoughts?

Consoles

I want to put a console behind my sofa (which I'm situating just in front of the entry way to the dining room, facing the window.

I found one at shophousingworks.com that I bid $102 on. It's French, distressed and black. What more do you need to know?

There is also a nice console on sale at pottery barn. That is longer (aka can maybe fit two lamps on it and it has a shelf beneath for the inevitable pile-ups.)

The thing about ordering from pottery barn is that I also love the Hudi Lantern that has gotten such good reviews. That might be a nice two for one shot deal.

Home Evolution

With the promise of a check, I've started purchasing for my home. My first purchase? Not a light fixture, not the wallpaper I've been obsessing over, or window treatments but.....a rug for the girls' room!

The rug I ordered is from west elm:

And I think that will look great with the aqua walls, the Pink ceiling and brown doors:

The fan Nick advised me to get is the cirrus fan

but I think that a white ceiling fan light from Home Depot will be fine.
